今天Leanne來為大家做筆記,簡略地說說昨天我們在劍橋師訓上些甚麼吧!
不過這樣的好康不是每次都有唷,是昨天不需要忙進忙出,所以有機會認真聽課啦!
以後大家還是盡量挪出每周二下午來上課吧~

Motivation


"Motivation is important because it determines how successful language learning will be.  All the talent in world would not be enough if there is no motivation to do something.   Keeping our students motivated is a very important teaching task."

  • 想一想:要如何當一個高教學效能的老師(effective teacher)呢??如何讓學生在你的課堂中保持學習動機呢?
你的答案是甚麼??

"Intrinsic Motivation--What motivates students to learn English?  Some elements are out of control and we can only encourage our students to discover them."

現場老師的共識是,比起擁有豐富的專業學養,具有熱忱、善於與學生溝通、真切了解學生的老師更能夠引起學生動機、促進學習成效。 大家同意嗎??


  • 想一想:能夠引起學生學習動機的因素是甚麼呢?
這一題出現了很有趣的歧異,因為講師認為"They know that improving their English ability will help them later on in life." 以及 "Learning English allows them to pursue another personal interest like music."是很能夠激發學習興趣的,但現場老師們不表認同。有老師表示前者太過抽象、沒有即刻性,孩子不能夠領略其重要性,因此無論我們多用盡心思強調英語學習的重要性,也是枉然。而後者則是因為孩子們的生活環境中鮮少有「非使用英語不可」的情境,即使是大家都非常喜愛的電玩遊戲,也依舊能夠忽略其中的英文指令、靠著經驗及網路密集而成功攻略。  大家同意嗎?

  • Tips for increasing student motivation:
 在討論增進學習動機的小撇步之前,老師必須先自我練功,包含Lesson planning, Classroom management, Selection of activities, and Our approach to teaching English。這些,都準備好了嗎? 自身修練好了,方能讓學生信服、崇拜、依賴啊! (Students trust you as a teacher.

在這個環節中,講師提及了學生的自信度(Self-confidence):比方當我們測驗horse這個字時,若學生寫hors,老師該怎麼給分?零分?部分給分?其實我們可以從這個答案中知道這個孩子已經具備了phonemic awareness,他幾乎完整地拼出單字了,何不給予正增強呢?

Focus on form

  3. How do we focus on form?
對於英語系國家人民而言,英語是第一語言(English as first language),英語學習是自然的進程,毋須刻意強調文法結構。"First language learners learn language purely by exposure to it." 但對於第二語言的學習者來說,我們必須兼顧該語言的各個面向,其中當然包括文法結構。"We need to focus on form to assis second language learners.  Our teaching sould therefore not only focus on communication or interaction, but also include acquisition activities and focus on form."

在這個環節中我們要能夠定義下列三種活動 (1)acquisition activies: to learn the language, (2)interaction activies: to use the language, (3)focus on form activies: grammar
